Promotores Classes

protegete promotor classThe Colorado Latino population is the eighth largest in the nation, about 21% of the state’s population, and growing. Yet for a variety of institutional and economic reasons, Latinos have not historically been part of the political process and have too often been overlooked in the fight to curb carbon pollution and combat climate change.

This is why we introduced our Promotores for Environmental Justice & Action leadership training. The curriculum is focused on building leaders by providing the resources, knowledge and leadership skills to organize local communities and hold elected officials accountable when they no longer represent the values of the people who elected them into office in the first place.

In this training, we cover the roots of civil rights and Constitutional protections, the history of the environmental movement and the important role that our communities have played in shaping it, and how to organize a “team” within our communities.

If you’re interested in participating in an upcoming Promotor training, please contact us at info@conservationco.org.

Mi experiencia como Promotora de Justicia y Acción Ambiental

“The Promotores trainings did not just teach me the laws, we also discussed the Constitution. I learned about my right to be free of discrimination and how to live as a citizen of this country, which includes doing what is best for my community and protecting our Mother Earth.”

“En la clase de Promotores aprendí no sólo cómo son las leyes, sino también sobre la constitución. Aprendí sobre mis derechos, a no ser discriminada y a cómo vivir como una ciudadana de este país.”
