Luke Schafer – West Slope Advocacy Director

Luke Schafer - staff biography headshotLuke started with Conservation Colorado’s predecessor, Colorado Environmental Coalition in 2004 and currently is our West Slope Advocacy Director.  Over the years he worked protecting some of Colorado’s greatest hidden jewels from the threats of development, namely Vermillion Basin and the Yampa River in Northwest Colorado. Luke is a ardent sportsmen and river rat and spends the vast majority of his free time hunting, fishing and rafting through the lonely corners of the West.

Favorite car camping spot: an extremely remote area in Moffat County, on the flanks of Lookout Mountain sits a short side canyon above Vermillion Basin that provides great sunrise and sunset views of the basin and Cold Spring, Middle and Diamond Mountains
