Conservation Colorado Announces Second Slate of Municipal Endorsements in Commerce City and Pueblo
DENVER —Conservation Colorado, the state’s leading environmental advocacy organization, is pleased to announce its second round of municipal endorsements for the upcoming fall 2023 city council and mayoral races in Commerce City and Pueblo.
The endorsed candidates for Commerce City are:
- Steve Douglas for Mayor
- Jennifer Allen-Thomas for Ward 2
- Renée M. Chacon for Ward 3
- Susan Noble for Ward 4
The endorsed candidates for Pueblo are:
“Commerce City and Pueblo are home to neighborhoods and communities disproportionately impacted by pollution,” noted Conservation Colorado’s Political Director, Aly Ferrufino-Coqueugniot. “We are committed to endorsing leaders who reflect the diversity of their communities, ensuring that residents can see themselves and their interests represented in local governments. Each endorsed candidate recognizes that the voices of impacted community members should be integral to the solution, and they are actively engaging with their communities to drive positive change.”
City leaders hold pivotal roles in shaping policies that directly impact Conservation Colorado’s core focus areas, including climate action, water conservation, public lands preservation, and environmental justice. A city council with a strong pro-conservation stance can serve as a catalyst for transformation, especially for communities facing the foremost challenges of pollution.
“Each of these candidates represent the diverse voices that contribute to Commerce City and Pueblo’s strength and resilience,” added Ferrufino-Coqueugniot. “With the right leadership, the future of these cities can experience sustainable development through effective pollution regulation and responsible water conservation. Commerce City and Pueblo residents are encouraged to exercise their civic duty and cast their votes by Tuesday, Nov. 7.
