Vice President of Fundraising

Conservation Colorado is seeking a Vice President of Fundraising located anywhere in Colorado. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the development of our organization’s multi-faceted stream of revenue, including foundations, individual giving, event sponsorship, and political giving. You’ll report directly to the CEO as a key member of the five person executive team.

What You’ll Do
As Vice President of Fundraising, you’ll develop, lead and implement a fundraising strategy that aims to meet the organization’s monetary and strategic goals. The position oversees a team of four fundraisers and programs including individual giving, foundations, planned giving and events. The position is also responsible for collaborating with other parts of the organization to improve the donor experience, grow a base of supporters and move the organization towards a racially diverse membership from across the state that better represents Coloradans.

Strategy Development & Implementation

• Work with fundraising team members to develop and implement a strategy and fundraising plan to maximize each revenue stream supporting the organization, including giving from foundations, individuals, and events, and that takes into account all five entities in the Conservation Colorado family: the 501(c)(3) public education organization, the 501(c)(4) advocacy organization, and the political committees.
• Work with the CEO, Vice President of Programs, Protégete Director and Political team to grow both our 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) and political entities funding.
• Work with the CEO and other VPs as an Executive Team charged with building and maintaining a strong organization capable of delivering our Strategic Plan.

Major Gift Fundraising

• Maintain and grow a small portfolio of long-standing major donors and hold responsibility with the CEO to cultivate, solicit, upgrade and steward these donors through personal interaction and connection with Conservation Colorado staff and program work. 
• Lead the growth of a major gifts pipeline by guiding strategy to increase the number of monthly donors (Las Semillas / The Seeds) and Middle Donors (Impact Partners) year over year. 
• Develop a strategy, using our national affiliate as a resource, for including asset giving and planned giving into the individual giving program over the next three years.

Team Management & Development

• Provide opportunities for fundraising staff members to learn and grow in line with the fundraising plan and the organization’s strategic direction and provide training and coaching on fundraising
• Ensure that all non-fundraising staff and board members have access to training and resources for their roles to support fundraising

Qualifications
To be successful in this job, you will demonstrate the strategic thinking, results-focused work and leadership, management and collaborative skills to work well with our team. Fundamentally, we are looking for a fundraiser who has the skills to grow a larger and more diverse donor base while continuing to capitalize on the organization’s long-standing fundraising success. More specifically, you will have or be most or all of the following:

• 10+ years of relevant experience working as a fundraiser, preferably including experience as a major gifts fundraiser. Experience raising money for political and advocacy causes is a plus.
• Management experience in a spirit of learning, collaboration, transparency, accountability, inclusion, and equity. Experience leading a racially diverse team is a plus.
• A strategic fundraising orientation, with the skills and experience to analyze a complex fundraising operation, formulate SMARTIE goals and objectives for the department overall and individual team members, and spot opportunities for growing revenue and challenges to fundraising sustainability.
• Agility and teamwork, as this is a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. The ability to stay nimble and organized, while managing multiple projects and competing priorities is critical as well as the ability to effectively work with a large team, both your own and across the organization, to achieve our goals.
• Cultural competency is a must as we work with communities who have been traditionally excluded from the environmental movement, particularly Black, Latine, Indigenous, and other communities of color. Experience creating content for different communities and building relationships across different social identities is important to the success of our work.
• Commitment to our mission and theory of change, with an appreciation for an organizational culture that is oriented to an advocacy-based environmental mission that centers equity and justice and a theory of change that focuses on elections, policy and organizing

This position does not have an undergraduate education requirement. Spanish/English bilingual is a skill we value, but it is not a requirement. This is a full-time job but there can be some flexibility in the exact schedule.

Compensation and Benefits
The full-time salary range for this role is between $120,000 – $150,000, based on a wage analysis across the organization and new staff rarely starting at the top of the range.

All Conservation Colorado positions require in person work of some kind & therefore we do require our staff to be vaccinated against COVID. However, when it comes to being in the office or working from home, we have embraced a hybrid work model where we offer people, in consultation with their managers, some flexibility on where they work based on organizational needs, job requirements, and personal preferences. The organization does not have a set policy for the number of days someone must be in the office and the days required for a specific individual or position will vary from person to person based on the needs of the job. Everyone is welcome to work in the office 100% of the time if they prefer or if their home environment is not conducive to working for whatever reason.
