Press Statement: President Biden shows bold climate leadership and protects public lands in week one

DENVERToday, the Biden administration took decisive climate action with a series of executive orders to protect our lands, water, climate, and communities. Conservation Colorado’s Executive Director Kelly Nordini released the following statement in response:

“For far too long, federal lands in Colorado have been leased to big polluters for pennies on the dollar — often with disastrous long-term results for our climate and communities. President Biden’s order pausing this outdated practice is long overdue.

“Coloradans overwhelmingly support climate leadership based in science and grounded in equity and health to protect our state now and for future generations. President Biden is moving boldly to build back better and make clear that we once again have a federal partner for climate action, creating high-quality jobs, addressing environmental injustice, protecting 30 percent of our land and water by 2030, and common-sense oil and gas reform.”
