DENVER – Conservation Colorado, the state’s largest environmental advocacy organization, announced today a slate of endorsements in Colorado’s June 25 primary.

“Conservation Colorado is endorsing candidates who have shown their commitment to being a true environmental champion,” said Aly Ferrufino-Coqueugniot, Conservation Colorado’s political director. “By endorsing candidates in state primaries, all Coloradans will benefit as more state lawmakers will support protecting our air, climate, water, public lands and communities.”

Conservation Colorado announced the endorsement of the following legislative candidates:

  • Rep. Mike Weissman for Senate District 28: Rep. Weissman was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 2016 and has proven to be an environmental champion. Rep. Weissman is now running for state Senate in Colorado’s 28th Senate District, which covers southern Aurora and parts of Arapahoe County.
  • Rep. Junie Joseph for House District 10: Rep. Joseph is running for re-election in Colorado’s 10th House District in Boulder. Rep. Joseph has worked to address the interconnected issues of equity and climate action, as she was a key sponsor in legislation passed last year that provided new tax credits for renewable energy.
  • Rep. Julia Marvin for House District 31: Rep. Marvin has been a fierce advocate for community health and accountability for polluters since her time in local government. Rep. Marvin has brought her experience to the state legislature and is running for reelection in House District 31, which is based largely in Thornton.
  • Yara Zokaie for House District 52: Zokaie, a first-generation American, is running for office as a progressive champion, hoping to bring her experience to government and direct service to House District 52, located just south of Fort Collins.
