Every year, Colorado legislators vote on hundreds of bills. The 2026 Legislative Scorecard highlights the most important environmental priorities, giving you a clear, nonpartisan view of who’s leading on protecting Colorado’s climate, lands, water and communities.
As the Trump administration works to dismantle climate progress and environmental protections, states like Colorado have to lead the way. The scorecard shows where your elected officials are showing up for our environment and where there’s still work to do.

KEY VICTORIES
Your advocacy helped achieve these key victories:
CLIMATE & CLEAN AIR
Blocked legislation offering excessive corporate handouts for energy-intensive data centers without sufficient climate or community protections — making sure Coloradans aren’t left with higher energy bills and more pollution
Strengthened the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to help keep Colorado’s clean energy transition on track, increase transparency and protect families from rising electricity costs
Fought back against Trump’s push to keep dirty coal plants running, securing new protections for ratepayers and air quality
Strengthened RTD’s board structure to make Colorado’s largest transit agency more accountable, reliable and affordable for riders
Established a new statewide program to safely recycle electric vehicle batteries, keeping toxic materials out of landfills and ensuring they are reused in new batteries
Protected K-12 education, healthcare and transit funding from being cut by a proposed highway-lobby ballot measure
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
Capped electricity costs for low-income households, because affordable energy is a necessity, not a luxury
Strengthened water quality protections for mobile home park residents
LANDS & WATER
Secured funding for wildlife crossings to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions, protect migration corridors and improve road safety
Passed a bipartisan resolution defending Colorado’s public lands from federal sell-off attempts
Continued the Test and Fix Water for Kids program to keep drinking water safe in schools and child care centers
Extended the conservation easement tax credit, equipping landowners with a critical tool to protect open space and wildlife habitat

Dear Supporters,
This year at the State Capitol, with your help, Conservation Colorado drove meaningful progress to tackle climate change, create healthier communities and protect our lands, water and wildlife.
We won new and innovative laws to cap electricity costs for those who need relief most, expand clean energy for business, schools and neighborhoods, modernize our transportation systems, and safeguard land and wildlife. Together, they helped create a more sustainable future for all Coloradans.
Despite the progress, not every effort crossed the finish line. We were disappointed that common-sense protections addressing the risks posed by data centers did not pass. We remain committed to securing a durable, long-term solution that puts communities and the environment first.
Throughout the session, we worked to ensure that the voices of Coloradans from every corner of the state were heard — because lasting change starts with the people most affected. This year’s progress was only possible thanks to the tireless advocacy of our legislative champions, coalition partners, supporters and people like you who stayed engaged and made your voices count.
