Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 30
Colorado’s primary election, conducted by both the Democratic and Republican parties, determines which candidates will represent their parties in the state general election on Nov. 3. In the primaries, candidates run for offices up and down the ballot.
Here’s what you need to know to cast your vote.

Key Dates for Colorado’s 2026 Primary Election
June 8, 2026
Ballots begin to be mailed out to all Coloradans registered to vote at their current address. Affiliated voters will receive their party’s primary ballot, and unaffiliated voters will be mailed both a Democratic and a Republican primary ballot.
Last day for affiliated voters to change party affiliation and vote in that party’s primary election. Unaffiliated voters can choose to vote in either the Democratic or the Republican primary, but not both.
June 22, 2026
Recommended last day to return your ballot by mail. You can still return your ballot to a ballot drop box or vote in person until 7 p.m. on Election Day.

How To Cast Your Vote
You can register to vote, check your voter registration status, or update your address at www.govotecolorado.gov or in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC). You can register in person until 7 p.m. on Election Day.
To be eligible to vote, you must be:
- A U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years old on or before Election Day, June 30
- A Colorado resident for at least 22 days before Election Day, June 30

Whether you vote by drop box, mail or in person, your voice can make a difference.
Vote by Drop Box
You must return your ballot to a ballot drop box or Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC) by 7 p.m. on Election Day, June 30.
Ballot drop boxes begin opening Tuesday, June 23.
VSPCs begin opening on Monday, June 22.
Check your county clerk’s website to find your nearest ballot drop box or VSPC.


Vote by Mail
Ballots returned by mail must arrive by 7 p.m. on Election Day, June 30.
It’s recommended to mail your ballot back by Monday, June 22, to ensure it arrives on time.
Vote in Person
Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPCs) open on Monday, June 22.
You must be in line by 7 p.m. on Election Day, June 30 to cast your vote.
To vote at a VSPC, you must bring an acceptable form of identification.
Check your city or county clerk’s website for VSPC locations and hours.
