2017 Rebel with a Cause Honoree:
LaDonna Brave Bull Allard
This year, we are thrilled to honor LaDonna Brave Bull Allard as our Rebel of the Year. Ms. Allard is a dedicated leader for indigenous rights, women’s rights, and environmental justice. Standing firm in the face of great odds, she helped lead the high-profile movement opposing the Dakota Access Pipeline with strength and courage.
Ms. Allard established the Sacred Stone camp on her own property, hosting over 10,000 camping protesters by December 2016. This movement has become the largest intertribal alliance on the American continent in centuries, with over 200 tribal nations. Ms. Allard and others continue to protest the injustice of the Dakota Access Pipeline, fighting to preserve the Lakota tribe’s clean water.
2017 Legislator of the Year:
Representative Diane Mitsch Bush
This year, we are proud to award Diane Mitsch Bush as our Legislator of the Year. As a third-term conservation leader, Diane Mitsch Bush has consistently stood up for her constituents by supporting pro-environment and anti-pollution legislation. With a 100% score in our Conservation Scorecard, she truly represents our values as Coloradoans.
