Meet Our Rebels
CEO of Patagonia
As the newest CEO of Patagonia, Rose Marcario has shown her commitment to the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profit. After spending 15 years in private equity, Marcario made the jump to Patagonia as COO in 2008. Since becoming CEO of Patagonia, she launched Tin Shed Ventures, the company’s in-house venture fund aimed at funding companies that address the environmental crisis, and Patagonia Provisions, an organic regenerative food company focused on more sustainable and fair food supply chains. She was honored at the White House by President Barack Obama as a Champion of Change for her family-friendly work policies. She was profiled in Fortune Magazines Most Powerful Women in Business 2015, and Fast Company named her one of the most creative and innovative CEOs of 2016. She was named by Good Net as one of the five most inspiring CEOs in America. Upworthy named her one of nine high profile CEO’s who did positive things for world in 2015. She has been recognized for her work as a champion of the Benefit Corporation movement. She has been practicing Buddhism for two decades and is on the Board of Trustees at Naropa University.
Senator Jacky Rosen
Before entering politics, Rosen worked as a computer programmer and software developer. After working as a consultant for a few years, Rosen ran for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, serving as representative for Nevada’s third district from 2017 to 2019. In 2018, Rosen was the only challenger to beat an incumbent Republican Senator. As a freshman Senator, Rosen is poised to continue making a positive impact on our democracy. She has proven with her time serving as a Representative that she cares deeply about all of her constituents. During her time as a Representative, Rosen sponsored and introduced bipartisan legislation aimed at creating jobs in the solar industry, making healthcare more accessible, and reforming the VA. She has also spent time in the community with her synagogue and Family Promise, working to provide food and housing to the homeless.
Senator Jon Tester
A third-generation Montana farmer, Senator Jon Tester has a deep commitment to the future of the state and its people. Before serving Montana as a state and now U.S. Senator, Tester married his high school sweetheart, started a family, and taught music at a local elementary school. His neighbor’s retirement from the Montana Senate, along with frustration at the deregulation of the energy industry, spurred him to run for and be elected into the Montana Senate in 1998. In 2005, Tester won his first bid for the U.S. Senate, and has continued to be a voice for Montana in Congress since then. Whether working on improving schools, helping veterans, or holding the government accountable, Tester works every day with his constituents’ best interests in mind. Tester understands the balance between urban and rural interests, and strives to fight for responsible energy development, clean air and water, access to healthcare for women and veterans, and indigenous communities. He has taken his commitment to Montana and brought the same approach to Washington, D.C. to continue driving positive change for his home state and his country.
